ST. JOHNS KITCHEN REMODEL & ADDITION

The kitchen remodel of this 1860 farmhouse represents a seamless blend of history and modernity. The project began with a complete gutting of the existing kitchen and dining room. An addition was constructed, expanding the space to accommodate a vast kitchen and dining area, along with an inviting sitting area.

This remodel is more than just a renovation; it's a reimagining of farmhouse living, bringing together the rustic charm of the past with the sleek functionality of the modern age. It stands as a testament to the timeless appeal of farmhouse chic.

Harmonious Design Elements

The design elements were carefully chosen to unify the rooms while enhancing their farmhouse charm:

  • Flooring: Greyish brown wood-look flooring was laid throughout, providing a rustic yet sophisticated foundation.
  • Ceilings: White shiplap ceilings were installed, adding texture and a nod to traditional farmhouse aesthetics.
  • Walls: The walls were painted in light colors, creating a bright and airy atmosphere that complements the natural light.

Natural Light and Warmth

The remodel was designed to maximize light and warmth:

  • Windows: Large windows were installed, framing the picturesque views of the surrounding fields.
  • Skylights: Three skylights were added, inviting the sky inside and brightening the space.
  • Lighting: Ample recessed lighting was strategically placed to ensure a warm glow throughout the area.

Culinary Excellence and Comfort

The kitchen itself was transformed into a culinary haven:

  • Cabinetry: Grey cabinetry lined two entire walls, offering ample storage in a stylish package.
  • Countertops: White quartz countertops provided a clean and durable surface for meal preparations.
  • Backsplash: White subway tile backsplash gave a classic touch to the modern kitchen.

Appliances and Island

The appliances were carefully selected to cater to both function and style:

  • Range: A commercial range with a rangehood was installed, ready to handle any cooking challenge.
  • Refrigeration: A restaurant-grade fridge, alongside a beer fridge and a convection oven, were placed to meet all storage and cooking needs.
  • Island: The centerpiece was an expansive island, seating ten and housing the sink and additional storage, offering a communal space for family and friends.

A View to Remember

The kitchen sink was positioned to provide stunning views:

  • Outlook: Overlooking the dining and sitting areas, the sink offers a vantage point to appreciate both the interior's beauty and the external fields.
  • Windows: The view through the windows ensures a connection with the outdoors, even while indoors.

Cozy Sitting Area and Dining Elegance

The sitting area was designed for comfort and ambiance:

  • Fireplace: A stone fireplace with a mounted TV above provides warmth and entertainment.
  • Barn Door: The dining area features a wood and frosted glass barn door, allowing for privacy when desired.
