EAST LANSING BEDROOM & BATHROOM REMODELS

Our clients in East Lansing wanted to remodel parts of the second and third floors of their incredible 1930’s home. With most all of the rooms keeping the old trim, crown moldings, and hardwood floors throughout, the homeowners wanted to ensure all rooms lived up to this grand style.

Second Floor Remodel

Our clients expressed a desire to elevate their second-floor guest suite. This suite, comprising a bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom, was due for a transformation. The goal was to infuse modern aesthetics while maintaining functionality and comfort. Here's how we approached each area:

1. Bedroom Upgrade:

  • We began by assessing the existing layout and identifying opportunities for improvement. The clients wanted a serene retreat, so we opted for a neutral color palette with a light-grey color covering the walls and ceiling set off by white trim.
  • New hardwood flooring replaced the worn carpet, instantly adding warmth and elegance.
  • We created some custom-built storage solutions, such as a built-in shelf unit complete with a sitting bench for reading or getting dressed in the morning, maximized space utilization.
  • The closet received a modern upgrade with beautiful sliding doors with black handles.
  • Modern lighting provides both ambient and task lighting, enhancing the overall ambiance.

2. Sitting Room Transformation:

  • The sitting room, adjacent to the bedroom, needed a cohesive design that flowed seamlessly. We achieved this by continuing to run the hardwood flooring seamlessly throughout it while continuing the paint scheme.
  • A plush pull-out couch and writing desk create an inviting nook for reading or relaxation.
  • Large windows allowed natural light to flood the room, emphasizing the connection to the outdoors.
  • A massive walk-in closet and secondary linen closet complete the space while providing ample storage for the homeowners and guests alike.

3. Bathroom Revamp:

  • The existing bathroom received a complete makeover. Our clients envisioned a spa-like retreat, and we aimed to exceed their expectations.
  • Clean lines and minimalistic design guided our choices. Grey subway tiles adorn the shower walls, creating a fresh backdrop.
  • A black-framed glass shower enclosure replaced the outdated tub, providing a spacious and airy feel.
  • Modern fixtures, including a rainfall showerhead and sleek vanity, added functionality and elegance.

Third Floor Bathroom

The third floor held a single bathroom that required attention. Our challenge was to blend modern elements with vintage allure:

1. Design Harmony:

  • To achieve the desired balance, we selected materials and finishes thoughtfully. White tile and countertops combined with crosshatch floor tiles exuded classic elegance.
  • A freestanding vanity with a white marble top and black finishes offered storage without compromising on style.
  • The color palette combined soft grays, whites, and blacks, evoking a sense of vintage tranquility.

2. Statement Shower:

  • The bathtub and shower combo became a focal point. Its angular ceiling and curved shower rod echoed vintage aesthetics, while the matte black faucet and white-subway tiles added a contemporary twist.

3. Timeless Details:

  • An antique table tucked against the window, lends a touch of tradition.
  • A modern vintage-inspired mirror and towel racks completed the look, emphasizing the bathroom's character.
